This module generates a high negative voltage when powered from a low voltage DC supply. The end of the high voltage lead is connected to a carbon brush head, which emits the negative ions. These are used in some air conditioners and air purification systems. This module may also be suitable as a high voltage supply for electrostatic speakers. The nominal supply voltage for this module is 12VDC but it can be powered from a lower supply voltage. Lower supply voltages would produce lower output voltages. For a graph illustrating how the output voltage varies with the supply voltage click on the JPG button below. Note that an electrostatic voltmeter was used for measuring the high voltage and there may be some variation for different modules. Overall dimensions of the main body are 37x17x17mm and the mounting holes are 67mm apart. Operation 12V–30mA max. Rated power is 1W, 8KV max. output. Oscillator frequency is 15KHz, produces up to six million ions per cubic centimetre.
WARNING: RESEARCH THE EFFECTS OF NEGATIVE IONS ON HUMANS BEFORE USING. A HIGH VOLTAGE WARNING ALSO APPLIES SO THE MODULE HAS TO BE ENCLOSED PROPERLY.
